This study presents a comprehensive chemical analysis and reverse engineering of the Coca-Cola beverage formula, one of the most closely guarded trade secrets in commercial history. Through systematic application of gas chromatography-mass spectrometry (GC-MS), comparison with scientific literature, and iterative flavor formulation testing over approximately one year, we developed a chemically similar replica of Coca-Cola. The research identified key flavor compounds including α‑terpineol, limonene, cinnamaldehyde, and previously overlooked components such as tannins and acetic acid. Our final formulation achieved spectral similarity to authentic Coca-Cola and passed blind taste tests with participants unable to reliably distinguish the replica from the original product. This work demonstrates the viability of reverse engineering complex beverage formulations using accessible analytical chemistry techniques and essential oil combinations.
