
Lewis Rouppe was a surgeon first in the French Army and later in the Dutch Navy.In 1764, he published a treatise on diseases affecting sailors in Latin, which was translated into English in 1772. One section of his treatise focuses on scurvy. This document presents selected extracts from the section on scurvy, describing the symptoms and the post-mortem dissections of sailors who died from the disease.
