This dataset provides the Standardized Soil Moisture–Temperature Compound Index (SSTCI), a daily compound indicator designed to quantify compound dry–hot extremes (CDHEs) by explicitly modeling the statistical dependence between soil moisture deficits and temperature anomalies. SSTCI is produced at 0.1° spatial resolution with daily temporal resolution for the period 1961–2023 (365-day calendar; leap days removed). Data contents Main product SSTCI: daily gridded SSTCI values stored in NetCDF format. Variables The NetCDF file includes: SSTCI(time, lat, lon) — daily compound index (unitless; standardized) time — daily timestamps (365-day calendar; leap days removed) lat, lon — geographic coordinates (regular 0.1° grid) Spatial and temporal coverage Spatial resolution: 0.1° × 0.1° (global land grid) Temporal resolution: daily Time span: 1961–01–01 to 2023–12–31 (leap days removed) Missing values Ocean grid cells and locations without valid input data are stored as missing values (NaNs). Code availability The full source code used to compute SSTCI is publicly available at:https://github.com/Rukhshio/Standarized-Soil-Moisture-Tempreture-Compound-Index-SSTCI- A separate repository provides the CDHE event identification workflow and event catalogue generation:https://github.com/Rukhshio/Compound-dry-hot-extreme-CDHE-event-catalogue-

| selected citations These citations are derived from selected sources. This is an alternative to the "Influence" indicator, which also reflects the overall/total impact of an article in the research community at large, based on the underlying citation network (diachronically). | 0 | |
| popularity This indicator reflects the "current" impact/attention (the "hype") of an article in the research community at large, based on the underlying citation network. | Average | |
| influence This indicator reflects the overall/total impact of an article in the research community at large, based on the underlying citation network (diachronically). | Average | |
| impulse This indicator reflects the initial momentum of an article directly after its publication, based on the underlying citation network. | Average |
