Abstract

The intervention project aimed to implement a comprehensive soft-skills training plan to strengthen the professional practice of students in the Computer Systems Engineering program at the Instituto Tecnológico Superior de Ébano (Tecnológico Nacional de México – Instituto Tecnológico Superior de Ébano). The research was conducted using a participatory action research approach, developed through the phases of planning, implementation, evaluation, and dissemination. The initial diagnosis considered the opinions of the business sector, faculty perceptions, and students’ self-assessments, which allowed for the identification of leadership, effective communication, teamwork, and problem-solving as priority areas. Based on these findings, workshops focused on the development of socio-emotional competencies were designed and implemented. Preliminary results revealed a positive perception regarding the strengthening of soft skills, reflected in improvements in personal confidence, assertive communication, collaborative work, and decision-making. These improvements suggest that soft-skills training directly influences students’ comprehensive preparation and contributes to better performance in professional and workplace settings.
