Adaptive reuse of heritage buildings for contemporary hospitality balances conservation principles with modern operational demands. This literature review synthesises spatial, cultural, and performance considerations in converting historic structures into hotels, resorts, and cultural venues. Key findings identify integration strategies for circulation and safety retrofits, interior heritage interventions balancing authenticity with comfort, and economic performance metrics demonstrating viability. The paper examines international conservation frameworks (Venice Charter, Burra Charter) and structured adaptive reuse methodologies. For India's heritage-rich context, strategic recommendations address spatial reconfiguration challenges, material compatibility, accessibility compliance, and stakeholder collaboration. Successful projects demonstrate that thoughtful conservation enhances cultural tourism, economic sustainability, and community engagement without compromising architectural integrity.
