
Koasati has a complex negative pattern with three markers on the verb whose placement is determined by verb class. The complexity of the morphological system has hindered understanding of negation as a whole in the language. This paper thus explores the larger topic of Koasati negation in typological perspective, with special attention to tone, aspect, and the origin of the system.
