Entre La "Ofrenda" Y El "Sacrificio": Los Cuerpos Infantiles Y Juveniles De La "Capacocha" En La Suramérica Incaica

Abstract

The study of Andean ritual practices has been extensively addressed by archaeology and history, especially in relation to their role in social cohesion, the legitimization of power, and the articulation of the religious system. However, the frequent conceptual confusion between “offering” and “sacrifice” limits our understanding of the symbolic and political logic that underpinned these rituals. This research aims to clarify this distinction through an interdisciplinary approach that integrates archaeology, history, and anthropology, focusing on the analysis of the “capacocha” ritual, a central practice in the religious and ideological system of the “Tawantinsuyu”.
