SOHO / EPHIN electron histogram data product

Abstract

General description Electron fluxes observed by SOHO / EPHIN in 15 energy channels ranging from approximately 300 keV to 1 MeV. Note: This data product should be used only for SEP event studies, as the provided flux values may exhibt large offsets during quiet-time background conditions. Each ZIP archive contains one file per day for a given year. The flux data have a cadence of 8 minutes prior to March 2023 and 1 minute thereafter. More information on the data product can be found in https://doi.org/10.1051/0004-6361/202557974. Description of the file headers date: Timestamp in "yyyy-mm-dd HH:MM:SS" year: Year doy: Day of year msod: Millisecond of day E0 - E14: Differential electron flux in (MeV cm^2 sr s)^(-1) E0_err_syst - E14_err_syst: Systematical uncertainty of the electron flux in (MeV cm^2 sr s)^(-1) E0_err_stat - E14_err_stat: Statistical uncertainty of the electron flux in (MeV cm^2 sr s)^(-1) Bin4 - Bin31: Raw histogram count rate in given bin. Bin4 - Bin18 corresponds to the E0 - E14 flux channels. ring_off: Flag indicating whether the automatic geometric factor reduction was activated. 0 denotes nominal operation, while 1 indicates a reduced geometric factor due to deactivation of the outer ring segments of the first two detectors. scale_factor: Scale factor for correcting Bin4 to Bin31 count rates for dead time effects. The count rates should by multiplied by this factor. contam: Indicator of potential ion contamination in the electron channels. The value denotes the highest channel that remains unaffected by ion contamination. (14 = all uncontaminated, -1 = all contaminated) Electron channels Ring on Ring off Channel Histogram bin $E_{\mathrm{eff}}$ / MeV $R_{\mathrm{BT}}$ / cm$^2$ sr MeV $R_{\mathrm{BT}}$ / cm$^2$ sr MeV E0 ch4 0.299 4.59e-2 $\pm$ 6.96e-3 7.81e-3 $\pm$ 1.46e-3 E1 ch5 0.328 6.01e-2 $\pm$ 5.77e-3 1.00e-2 $\pm$ 1.22e-3 E2 ch6 0.372 6.83e-2 $\pm$ 4.86e-3 1.12e-2 $\pm$ 1.03e-3 E3 ch7 0.421 6.81e-2 $\pm$ 4.01e-3 1.12e-2 $\pm$ 8.06e-4 E4 ch8 0.473 5.90e-2 $\pm$ 3.14e-3 9.62e-3 $\pm$ 6.41e-4 E5 ch9 0.530 4.67e-2 $\pm$ 2.37e-3 7.76e-3 $\pm$ 4.64e-4 E6 ch10 0.587 3.47e-2 $\pm$ 1.75e-3 5.57e-3 $\pm$ 3.50e-4 E7 ch11 0.643 2.49e-2 $\pm$ 1.28e-3 3.96e-3 $\pm$ 2.51e-4 E8 ch12 0.703 1.72e-2 $\pm$ 8.85e-4 2.83e-3 $\pm$ 1.91e-4 E9 ch13 0.761 1.17e-2 $\pm$ 6.20e-4 1.95e-3 $\pm$ 1.36e-4 E10 ch14 0.821 8.04e-3 $\pm$ 4.34e-4 1.30e-3 $\pm$ 8.72e-5 E11 ch15 0.881 5.37e-3 $\pm$ 2.96e-4 8.73e-4 $\pm$ 6.45e-5 E12 ch16 0.969 5.90e-3 $\pm$ 3.69e-4 1.03e-3 $\pm$ 9.03e-5 E13 ch17 1.104 2.73e-3 $\pm$ 1.85e-4 4.11e-4 $\pm$ 4.18e-5 E14 ch18 1.241 1.40e-3 $\pm$ 9.85e-5 2.45e-4 $\pm$ 1.81e-5 E_${\mathrm{eff}}$:= Effective energy of the channel $R_{\mathrm{BT}}$:= Response factor of the channel
