This study presents the results of the assessment of a new soon to reach market Virus-Like-Particle (VLP) vaccine – developed by Diamond Light Source Synchrotron in collaboration with the Pirbright Institute, the Universities of Reading and Oxford and MSD Animal Health to prevent Foot-and-Mouth Disease (FMD). The assessment specifically focuses on the benefits that would be brought about by this new vaccine (hereafter FMD-VLP) as compared to existing alternatives and on the role played by Diamond in its development.
