MEMBRANA CELULAR

Abstract

La membrana celular, que envuelve todas las células, establece los límites de la célula y preserva las diferencias fundamentales entre el interior de la misma y su medio. Esta membrana funciona como un filtro, muy selectivo, que regula la entrada de nutrientes y la salida de desechos, además de crear variaciones en la concentración de iones entre el interior y el exterior de la célula. La membrana celular también sirve de sensor para detectar señales externas, lo que permite a la célula modificar su comportamiento en respuesta a estímulos de su entorno. La membrana celular es una estructura muy especializada. Cada clase de célula posee en su capa exterior proteínas únicas que le permiten regular el ambiente interno y que se relacionan con señales particulares de su alrededor.
