
This article examines the specific features of teaching foreign languages to non-philological students through distance learning technologies, with particular emphasis on the development of sociolinguistic competence and the lexical component of language proficiency. The study highlights the pedagogical and methodological challenges specific in educating learners whose primary academic focus lies outside linguistics and who demonstrate predominantly pragmatic language-learning goals.
