BALANCE EPIDEMIOLÓGICO DE PACIENTES CON VIH-SIDA PERTENECIENTES AL POLICLÍNICO JOSUÉ PAÍS GARCÍA. CUBA

Abstract

Periodo enero-1998 a diciembre-2024.

Article type: Original Research Article Objective: to describe the comorbidities of HIV-AIDS patients at the Josué País García Polyclinic. From January 1998 to December 2024. Method: comprehensive therapeutic intervention in patients with HIV/AIDS who presented non-communicable comorbidities at or after diagnosis. It was carried out at the individual, couples and family level. The universe consisted of 65 patients who presented the condition of comorbidities, an initial evaluation, hypothesis approach, goal setting, schedule, design, application of the intervention plan and individualized follow-up were carried out. The lines of intervention were used with the following support: psychopedagogical and affective, prevention of biopsychosocial risks, participation, training and guidance for families. Results: there was a predominance of Arterial Hypertension and mental retardation in males, there were 5 deaths, one of which was accidental. It was possible to modify knowledge in the entire universe, the risks associated with non-communicable diseases were controlled, and complications of morbidities occurred in a single case. The results were compared with national and foreign research. It was recommended to apply this strategy in other nosological entities in the community. Conclusions: a national program was convened to train peer health promoters with the patients investigated. It is notable that only five individuals showed an unfavorable outcome: one patient developed kidney failure, one patient developed lacrimal gland carcinoma, and two patients developed Kaposi's sarcoma. It is important to note that some spouses and family members were unaware of the patients' diagnoses.
