Abstract The emergence of digital payment systems has transformed India’s financial landscape by promoting a cashless and transparent economy. This study examines the growth and impact of digital payment modes such as Unified Payments Interface (UPI), mobile wallets, internet banking, credit and debit cards, and Aadhaar-enabled payment systems. The objective of this research is to analyze how digital payments influence economic growth, financial inclusion, employment, and transaction efficiency in India. Both primary and secondary data were used to assess user preferences and the role of digitalization in India’s monetary system. The study also uses the Chi-square test to evaluate the relationship between demographic variables and digital payment adoption. The results reveal a significant positive impact of digital payments on the Indian economy, promoting transparency, efficiency, and financial inclusion, although issues such as cybersecurity and limited digital literacy still persist.
