A universal scaling fingerprint characterized by an approximately invariant quantityQ(m)=mΔ(m)≈2 has been observed across multiple unrelated domains. Here we explore a minimal predictive use: deviations from the invariant plateauserve as an early-warning indicator for impending regime change. We present a simple forecasting protocol based on tracking the stability of theQ(m) plateau over time and show how this converts a descriptive scaling signatureinto a falsifiable prediction rule.

| citations The total number of citations received by all articles of the researcher of interest. | 0 | |
| popularity This indicator reflects the "current" impact/attention (the "hype") of an article in the research community at large, based on the underlying citation network. | Average | |
| influence This indicator reflects the overall/total impact of an article in the research community at large, based on the underlying citation network (diachronically). | Average | |
| impulse This indicator reflects the initial momentum of an article directly after its publication, based on the underlying citation network. | Average |
