Abstract

O artigo "A Psicologia e o Mercado," é de autoria do célebre psicólogo e pesquisador Hugo Münsterberg, com tradução do Prof. Dr. Márcio Luiz Miotto, da Universidade Federal Tecnológica do Paraná. No texto, Münsterberg critica a falta de aplicação da psicologia experimental na indústria e no comércio, contrastando com o uso de ciências físicas. Embora a psicologia tenha feito progressos na educação e na medicina, e haja sinais na lei, o campo econômico ignora sua imensa importância. Münsterberg aponta que a mente humana está em ação em todas as etapas, desde a produção até a venda. A psicologia pode aprimorar a segurança e eficiência dos trabalhadores (por exemplo, análise de fadiga e métodos de aprendizagem) e melhorar o design de produtos (como máquinas de escrever). Além disso, a aplicação de seus princípios é crucial na publicidade e nas vendas, onde o uso incorreto de sugestão pode ser desastroso. O autor defende a necessidade de laboratórios de psicologia aplicada para fornecer padrões objetivos, inclusive para questões legais como a imitação de marcas.
