
The world is becoming increasingly interconnected, generating vast amounts of data that can be leveraged to understand and interact with our environment. This white paper explores the evolution of ambient sensing, from traditional remote sensing techniques to the burgeoning field of WiFi and 6G sensing, and looks ahead to the potential of future ambient intelligence systems. We examine the strengths and limitations of diverse sensing modalities, highlighting the synergistic potential of combining these technologies to create a more comprehensive and nuanced understanding of our world. We focus specifically on the concept of ambient sensing – the pervasive integration of sensing technologies into our surroundings – and its implications for a wide range of applications.
