Abstract: This philosophical essay explores the reconciliation of determinism and free will through a logical inversion: the outcome is inevitable (2), but the path to it is variable (?). Freedom is located in the efficiency, elegance, and cyclic sustainability of the path toward the necessary goal. The idea is speculative, inspired by process philosophy and compatibilism, without empirical or mathematical claims. Keywords: determinism, free will, compatibilism, ontology of the path, ethics of sustainability, process philosophy
