Abstract

A vaginose bacteriana (VB) é uma disbiose da microbiota vaginal que afeta uma parcela significativa de mulheres em idade reprodutiva. O tratamento de primeira linha, recomendado por diretrizes internacionais, é o uso de metronidazol ou clindamicina. No entanto, observa-se uma alta incidência de recorrência, o que tem motivado estudos para aumentar a probabilidade de cura.¹ Os dados epidemiológicos sugerem que a VB incidente apresenta características semelhantes a uma infecção sexualmente transmissível (IST), já que possui um período de incubação semelhante ao das ISTs bacterianas e está associada à presença de novos parceiros sexuais. Além disso, estudos demonstram que a microbiota peniana pode abrigar espécies bacterianas associadas à VB, favorecendo a recorrência em mulheres com parceiros fixos.¹ Nesse contexto, o estudo de Vodstrcil et al.¹ mostrou que a relação sexual possibilita a troca de microrganismos entre os parceiros, sugerindo uma maior taxa de cura quando o tratamento do parceiro masculino também é realizado, especialmente em relações monogâmicas, com o
