Abstract

Bu çalışmada, Smyrna Antik Kenti Kazısı çerçevesinde başta Agora olmak üzere, Altınpark, Basmane/Şifa ve Kadifekale gibi farklı sektörlerde gerçekleştirilen kazı çalışmaları sonucu ele geçen Roma Dönemi’ne ait cam buluntular değerlendirilmiştir. Söz konusu cam repertuarı içerisinde kâseler, kadehler, şişeler, tabaklar ve unguentarium gibi formlar öne çıkan buluntular olup, farklı üretim tekniklerinden oluşan bir seçki üzerinden değerlendirme yapılmıştır. Çalışmaya konu olan cam buluntuları, ‘Servis ve Masa Kapları’ ile ‘Unguanterium/Kozmetik Şişeleri’ başlıklı iki grup altında ele alınmıştır. Önemli bölümü serbest üfleme tekniği ile üretildiği bilinen söz konusu buluntular, Erken Roma İmparatorluk Dönemi’den Geç Roma İmparatorluk Dönemi’ne uzanan tarihsel süreç içerisine tarihlendirilmiştir. Roma Dönemi’nde Akdeniz’in en önemli ve işlek ticaret limanlarından biri durumunda olan Smyrna’dan ele geçen buluntular, cam geleneğinin ve karakteristik özelliklerinin çeşitliliğini yansıtmaktadır.
