Abstract

Genus Atranodes Jedlička, 1953 Jedlička, 1953: 108 Type species: Atranodes arisanus Jedlička, 1940 (Taiwan, China). Diagnostic characters. The genus Atranodes was defined in Jedlička, 1953 firstly, and modified as below in this paper. Medium-sized Platynini, moderately convex; more or less depigmented, yellow brown to dark reddish brown; apterous or macropterous. Dorsal body surface glabrous. Head with eye size large, typical or small, convex laterally or flat; tempora developed and oblique; two pairs of supraorbital setae present. Antennae pubescent from fourth antennomere. Labrum smooth, 6-setose at front margin; terminal labial and maxillary palpomeres fusiform, not expanded; ligula with apex nearly truncate, with two setae at front margin; mentum bisetose, with tooth simple or bifid at apex; submentum quadrisetose or 6-setose. Pronotum subcordate, glabrous, not bordered at lateral margins. Lateral setae and basolateral setae one pair, respectively. Elytra oval, glabrous, without humeral tooth. Basal setae present; interval 3 with 3 dorsal setae; marginal setae present, continuous. Ventrites glabrous or pubescent; each ventrites IV– VI bisetose, ventrites VII bisetose or quadrisetose in male, and variable in female between different species. Legs elongate and slender. Metacoxa trisetae or more; metatrochanter with one seta; male protarsomeres 1–3 not dilated, with adhesive hairs well developed. Aedeagus short and thick, with small sagittal aileron; parameres developed. Inner sac entirely covered with very lightly sclerotized small scales, without copulatory piece.
