O Oriente Médio como Novo Heartland? Geopolítica, Energia e Poder no Século XXI

Abstract

Este artigo examina o conceito de Heartland, de Halford J. Mackinder, à luz das dinâmicas geopolíticas atuais, buscando entender se o Oriente Médio pode ser reinterpretado como um Heartland funcional no século XXI. A partir de revisão bibliográfica e dados empíricos, discute três eixos principais: posição geoestratégica, centralidade energética e projeção de poder. O estudo identifica pontos de convergência e limites para aplicar a teoria de forma literal, e propõe uma releitura que enxerga o Oriente Médio como uma zona pivotal mais fluida, marcada por interdependências, disputas simbólicas e fragmentação — contribuindo para o debate sobre a centralidade territorial na ordem mundial contemporânea.
