Abstract

Ce qui est connu du sujet. Une alimentation adaptée est la pierre angulaire de la prise en charge du diabète. L’éducation thérapeutique est cruciale pour modifier les comportements, mais son efficacité dépend de sa pertinence culturelle et de son applicabilité dans le contexte de vie des patients. Le problème abordé. En Guinée, comme dans de nombreux pays d’Afrique subsaharienne, on ignore quelles sont les pratiques alimentaires réelles des patients diabétiques, rendant difficile la conception de programmes éducatifs ciblés et efficaces. Ce que l’étude apporte de nouveau. Cette étude menée auprès de 203 patients à Conakry montre que si la majorité (77,3%) fait trois repas par jour, un patient sur cinq (20,2%) saute des repas, souvent sans raison valable. L’alimentation repose fortement sur le riz (consommé par tous) et le poisson (91%). Malgré une éducation thérapeutique rapportée par 83,3% des patients, ces écarts persistent. Les implications. Les programmes d’éducation nutritionnelle en Guinée doivent aller au-delà des principes généraux. Ils doivent spécifiquement aborder la gestion des sauts de repas et proposer des alternatives pratiques pour modérer la charge glycémique des régimes à base de riz, en tenant compte des réalités et des préférences alimentaires locales.
