Datenbank zur Bestandserhebung bundesweit repräsentativer Monitoringprogramme in Deutschland

Authors: Nationales Monitoringzentrum zur Biodiversität;

Datenbank zur Bestandserhebung bundesweit repräsentativer Monitoringprogramme in Deutschland

Abstract

This database contains the data of a systematic inventory of nationwide biodiversity monitoring programs in Germany. The survey was conducted by the National Monitoring Centre for Biodiversity from June 2022 to February 2023, based on publicly available sources and supplemented by expert assessments. Its aim is to provide a comprehensive overview of existing monitoring structures. The database is available in two formats: a Microsoft Access version for straightforward navigation and a normalized SQLite version for advanced data processing. Both formats are derived from the same conceptual data model and contain identical content. A total of 24 monitoring programs comprising 245 modules were recorded. These modules are organised in a relational database using core metadata, including program objectives, biodiversity components covered, governance structures, survey periods, involved actors, legal references and supplementary information. This structure enables a systematic and cross-program comparable view of biodiversity information in Germany, forming the basis for coordinated analyses as well as the identification of synergies and gaps. Furthermore, the information provides an important foundation for the work of the National Monitoring Centre for Biodiversity in further developing nationwide biodiversity monitoring. The documentation of the database structure and methods of data collection are found in the related publication: https://doi.org/10.5281/zenodo.17988433 ContactNational Monitoring Centre for Biodiversity (NMZB) Federal Agency for Nature Conservation (BfN) Web: https://www.monitoringzentrum.de/en
