Abstract

Le ventricule unique est une malformation cardiaque complexe et rare, nécessitant une prise en charge chirurgicale spécialisée précoce pour la survie. Son diagnostic est souvent retardé dans les contextes aux ressources limitées, aggravant le pronostic. Nous rapportons le cas d’un enfant de quatre ans, issu d’un mariage consanguin, consultant pour une toux et une dyspnée d’installation progressive. Il n’avait bénéficié d’aucun suivi échographique prénatal. L’examen retrouvait une cyanose labiale, une saturation à 85% et des crépitants pulmonaires. L’échocardiographie a confirmé un ventricule unique à double entrée de type ventricule gauche. Malgré une amélioration clinique sous traitement médical, l’absence de possibilité chirurgicale locale a nécessité une orientation vers un centre étranger. Ce cas illustre les conséquences graves du défaut de dépistage anténatal et des barrières d’accès aux soins spécialisés pour les cardiopathies congénitales complexes en Afrique subsaharienne.
