Your Digital Research Assistant: An Open EducationaResource for Teaching the Basics of Obsidian

Abstract

This paper is accompanying the Open Educational Resource (OER) materials "Obsidian for researchers" [1], which have been published on GitHub [2]. The workshop concept was developed as part of the third-party funded project Data Nord, supported by the BMFTR (Bundesministerium für Forschung, Technologie und Raumfahrt). In this project, an interdisciplinary data competence center is being established at the Data Science Center of the University of Bremen. Discipline-specific workshops are offered to improve the data skills of researchers at all career levels. The workshop on which the OER is based was created for the target group of humanities researchers with the aim of addressing a topic that is well known in the humanities community, thus drawing attention to the services in the data competence center. [1] Disclaimer: The author is neither a member nor a representative of Dynalist Inc, the company that makes Obsidian. Obsidian was chosen for this workshop because it is a widely recognized and frequently used tool among humanities scholars. [2] https://doi.org/10.5281/zenodo.17978344
