A Avaliação Formativa no Ensino Superior

Abstract

This work investigates the role of formative assessment in higher education and its contribution to the continuous development of students and the improvement of teaching-learning processes. Formative assessment is distinguished by its focus on monitoring and supporting the student during the learning process, offering continuous feedback that guides the improvement of educational practices. Luckesi (2011) highlights that this form of assessment is not limited to measuring results, but promotes more reflective teaching adjusted to the needs of students. Perrenoud (1999) adds that formative assessment allows the teacher to identify learning difficulties early, facilitating more effective pedagogical interventions. In higher education, this practice is still challenged by a culture of summative assessments, mainly focused on assigning final grades. However, Vygotsky (1991) suggests that formative assessment, by offering immediate feedback, acts as a tool that enhances learning, as it values the development of students' competencies in a continuous process.
