ArtAI is a collaborative research initiative funded by the NIH AIM-AHEAD program that explores how artificial intelligence can enhance artistic expression for individuals with disabilities. Bringing together AI researchers, therapists, caregivers, and community leaders, the project focuses on human-centered design and inclusive collaboration. Participants use generative AI to create art, overcoming physical and communication barriers while preserving therapeutic value. The initiative highlights the transformative potential of AI to foster creativity, agency, and joy, demonstrating that technology can expand access to self-expression for all.
