This is the April 2001 issue of the International Newsletter on Physics Education (ICPE). It previews the ICPE conference in Korea on “Teaching and Learning of Physics in Cultural Contexts” and reports on an e-linked course connecting China, Korea, and the Philippines. Key articles discuss curriculum reform under “Physics Beyond 2000,” perspectives from India, and approaches to scientific and technological literacy. Other highlights include strategies for physics teacher education, discovery-based laboratory methods, and findings from EUPEN on student experiences, curriculum structure, and ICT integration. The issue also announces the first GIREP seminar on developing formal thinking and emphasizes bridging research and teaching communities.
