Preliminary results of assessing the state and dynamics of the plant world in the botanical garden of Almaty city based on Earth remote sensing data are presented. The necessity of using modern geographic information systems (GIS) for the analysis and monitoring of vegetation cover is discussed. The obtained results indicate a general improvement in the condition of vegetation in the garden, which is associated with effective management and care for plants. Active development of the collection of rare and exotic plants is noted, as well as successful restoration and preservation of local species.
