Abstract

This paper explores the potential and limitations of radiographic techniques applied to the study of archaeological pottery in Chile. It provides a summary review of some relevant work developed since the twentieth century, highlighting their usefulness in identifying primary and secondary, manufacturing methods, as well as the orientation and distribution of inclusions, and other technological aspects. Moreover, it analyzes the causes of their limited application and proposes the integration of experimental approaches and digital tools in order to strengthen the studies of technological pottery assemblages.
