Epilachna Chevrolat, 1836 Epilachna Chevrolat in Dejean, 1836: 436; Hope, 1840: 157. Epilachna [sensu stricto]: Szawaryn et al., 2015: 561; Tomaszewska & Szawaryn, 2016: 24. Type species: Coccinella borealis Fabricius, 1775; by subsequent designation of Hope (1840). Distribution by States in the Northeast Region of Brazil. Ceará; Pernambuco; Bahia. Species from the Northeast Region of Brazil. Epilachna cacica (Guérin-Méneville, 1844); Epilachna clandestina Mulsant, 1850; Epilachna marginella (Fabricius, 1787) [new record] (Fig. 21); Epilachna spreta Mulsant, 1850 [new record] (Fig. 22). Comments. Although Epilachna currently has about 136 species, the number of species in Epilachna sensu stricto could be less than 80 (Tomaszewska & Szawaryn 2016; González 2023). This genus is distributed throughout the Americas, with four documented species in the cacica and mutabilis groups in NE Brazil, two of these, E. marginella and E. spreta, represent new records for this region (Gordon 1975).
