Mitjaevia lamelliformis Yang & Cao & Zhang 2025, sp. nov.

Abstract

8. Mitjaevia lamelliformis Cao & Zhang sp. nov. (Figs 7, 15h) Description: Ground color yellow-whitish, with black patches. Middle line of scutellum brown, sides of which are parallel. Patches on vertex nearly oval, basal part far away from each other (Fig. 15h). Pygofer side with dorsal and ventral margin membranous; dorsal appendage narrow, apex tapering and slightly curved, ventral margin protruded subbasally; without ventral appendage (Figs 7a, b). Subgenital plate rounded apically; lateral margin with group of short stout setae subbasally forming one row from subbase to subapex, distal disc scattered with some small rigid setae; with 3 macrosetae in subapical area (Fig. 7d). Style with apical part triangular, apex curly, subapical inner margin produced; preapical lobe finger-like (Fig. 7e). Aedeagal shaft quite thick, moderately long, curved caudad, lateral sides of apex with pair of lamellate processes, base of which is broad and apex slender, ventral side with pair of fin-shaped processes; preatrium slightly shorter than shaft; gonopore large, terminal (Figs 7g, h). Measurement: Length of male 3.20mm. Material examined: Holotype: ♂, China: Tibet, Tongmai, 2050m, 26 vii 1978, coll. Li Fasheng (CAU). Diagnosis: This new species is most similar to M. wangwushana Song, Li & Xiong, 2011. It can be distinguished from the latter by the lack of the pygofer ventral appendage, a curved apex of the style, the presence of a pair of lamellate processes on the ventral side of the aedeagal shaft and an enlarged gonopore. Etymology: The specific epithet is derived from the Latin word “ lamelliformis ”, referring to the lamellate fin-shaped processes on the ventral side of the aedeagal shaft.
