
This dataset provides information on the work of the French Hellenist Louis (or Loys) Le Roy called Regius (1510-1577). Le Roy was a translator of some Greek orators and philosophers: Isocrates, Xenophon, Plato, Aristotle, Demosthenes. Le Roy used Greek wisdom to think the politics of his time. This dataset offers a bibliography on scholarly studies about his thought and production as well as systematic tables indicating his translations from Greek to French. It also provides a sample of his non published transalations of Isocrates: the front page of the manuscrip translation offered to King Henri II of France in 1547.
