
The project aims to develop biodegradable bioplastics made with natural, affordable, and sustainable raw materials, with the potential to replace conventional plastic products in everyday use. In recent years, plastic has been causing both environmental and human health problems, both during the production and consumption stages, and without post-consumption concerns. Thus, plastic is present in the oceans, rivers, bloodstreams, placentas, and human brains. Based on experimental research, the work explores different proportions of tapioca starch, vinegar, glycerol, and natural dyes, focusing on strength, flexibility, and impermeability, as well as commercial guidelines. Preliminary testing has yielded promising material. The next steps include waterproofing with beeswax and 3Dprinted molds. The proposal aims to meet SDG 12 and contribute to reducing the environmental impact of applied plastics.
