Paraschistura bampurensis

Abstract

Paraschistura bampurensis Common name. Bampur loach. Diagnosis. Distinguished from other species of Paraschistura in West Asia by: ○ snout pointed / ○ flank and back covered by scales / ○ 11–18 dark-brown bars on flank usually narrower than interspaces, especially on caudal peduncle / ○ lateral line incomplete, usually reaching beyond dorsal base, beyond anal origin in some individuals / ○ caudal forked or deeply emarginate / ○ suborbital flap present in male, triangular, not overlapping horizontal slit below flap / ○ a bold black spot at base of first dorsal rays / ○ dorsal adipose crest absent / ○ usually 8½ branched dorsal rays / ○ pelvic reaching to about 1–2 eye diameter in front of anus / ○ pelvic origin below first or second branched dorsal ray. Size up to 60 mm SL. Distribution. Iran and Pakistan: Mashkid and Khash drainages, eastern tributaries of Jazmurian basin, Sarhe, Sarbaz, and Bahukalat drainages in Makran region. Habitat.
