Lego Man Neutron Tomography Dataset with Equidistant and Golden Angle Acquistions

Abstract

This is a dataset of a lego man inside a thick-walled Pb container, with a 1mm thick Fe sheet at the bottom as a reference. The data was acquired at IMAT, ISIS Neutron & Muon Source. The same sample was acquired twice with two different acquisition protocols: Once by increasing the angles incrementally and equidistantly, across 360 degrees. Labelled: CMOS_LegoScan_EquiDis_PH60 Once by increasing by an angle determined by the golden ratio. Labelled: CMOS_LegoScan_GR_PH60 All images were acquired with 30s exposure time, pinhole 60mm and 100 micron pixel size. This dataset features in the youtube video "Cold Snap 📸 Imaging The Universe's Coldest Temperatures" Golden Ratio scan In the golden ratio scan, the angles were spaced across 180 degrees. Between each scan, the angle was changed by a golden angle of 111.25 degrees (wrapping back to 0 degrees when this increases the angle beyond 180).Sectioning a semicircle into two parts according to the golden ratio (such that the ratio between the largest arc length and the circumference is equal to the ratio between the smallest and largest arc lengths) gives angles of 111.25 degrees and 68.75. In this case the larger angle was used. Raw Data The `raw.zip` folder contains the raw data for each of the two scans, along with flat and dark fields acquired after the experiment. For the Golden Ratio scan, the log file does not contain data for all of the projections, so an angles.csv file has also been provided which lists the angles for each projection in the order of acquisition. Preprocessed Data For each scan, the `preprocessed.zip` folder contains data which has been pre-processed in Mantid Imaging, along with the `image.json` file which lists the steps, and a log or angles.csv file which lists the angles of the projections. Photos The 'photos.zip' contains some photos of the sample and experimental setup
