Abstract: Education is crucial for societies and individuals to achieve the knowledge society. Understanding how education and knowledge systems interact with large language models (LLMs) is therefore of importance and urgency. Education and knowledge systems encompass pedagogy, research, and learning systems. LLMs have emerged as generative AI tools that can produce human-like text responses and are becoming integrated into widespread practices, pedagogies, and educational systems. Education needs to adapt to changing modes of human reasoning and co-creation of knowledge stimulated by the new advances in generative AI. Generative AI offers opportunities to enhance pedagogy, research, and learning systems in education. Education systems are being transformed by generative AI that creates text, images, and other forms of media (Katsamakas et al., 2024). Generative AI presents both challenges and opportunities to education, knowledge systems, and societies at large (Leiker, 2023). It is important to understand how education can leverage the opportunities and navigate the challenges. | selected citations These citations are derived from selected sources. This is an alternative to the "Influence" indicator, which also reflects the overall/total impact of an article in the research community at large, based on the underlying citation network (diachronically). | 0 | |
| popularity This indicator reflects the "current" impact/attention (the "hype") of an article in the research community at large, based on the underlying citation network. | Average | |
| influence This indicator reflects the overall/total impact of an article in the research community at large, based on the underlying citation network (diachronically). | Average | |
| impulse This indicator reflects the initial momentum of an article directly after its publication, based on the underlying citation network. | Average |
