Abstract Blockchain technology has increasingly emerged as a transformative solution for enhancing transparency, security, and efficiency in international trade and customs management. Traditional customs operations often rely on paper-based documentation and manual verification processes, which can lead to delays, human errors, fraud, and increased administrative costs. In this context, blockchain provides an innovative framework for immutable record-keeping, real-time data sharing, and decentralized verification, allowing customs authorities, logistics companies, and trade participants to streamline operations and improve trust among stakeholders. This study investigates the practical applications of blockchain technology within customs logistics, including shipment tracking, digital documentation, certificate authentication, and cross-border trade facilitation. It further analyzes how blockchain contributes to risk reduction, fraud prevention, faster clearance procedures, and enhanced compliance with international trade regulations. By reviewing case studies from countries such as Singapore, China, and members of the European Union, the research highlights both the tangible benefits and the challenges, such as technological integration, regulatory adaptation, and initial investment costs. The findings suggest that blockchain adoption has the potential to modernize customs systems, reduce operational inefficiencies, and foster transparency and accountability in global trade processes. For emerging economies, including Azerbaijan, blockchain represents a strategic tool to align with international best practices, strengthen regional trade corridors, and support sustainable economic growth.
