Abstract

El maíz raza Jala (Zea mays L.) constituye un recurso agrícola de gran valor en México; sin embargo, enfrenta limitantes productivas asociadas tanto al ataque de plagas, como el gusano cogollero (Spodoptera frugiperda), como a la dependencia de fertilización química intensiva. En este estudio se evaluó el efecto de Trichoderma asperellum formulado con enzimas sobre la germinación, establecimiento y crecimiento vegetativo del maíz, así como en la reducción de daños ocasionados por S. frugiperda. El experimento se realizó bajo un diseño de bloques completos al azar, con tres tratamientos: control con fertilización química al 100 %, T. asperellum + fertilización al 100 % y T. asperellum + fertilización al 80 %, cada uno con tres repeticiones. Se registraron variables de germinación (6, 7 y 8 días), número de plantas establecidas y plantas dañadas a los 50 días, así como altura de planta, diámetro de tallo y número de hojas a los 12 y 50 días. Los resultados mostraron que T. asperellum promovió un mayor porcentaje de germinación y establecimiento, además de un crecimiento superior en altura, diámetro de tallo y número de hojas. De forma destacada, los tratamientos con el hongo redujeron significativamente el daño por gusano cogollero. Se concluye que T. asperellum constituye una alternativa viable como bioestimulante y agente complementario de protección en maíz raza Jala.
