Abstract

Description (Full paper in Czech language) This research study titled Digitalization as a Key Driver of Economic Development in the Music Industry in the European Union examines the economic impact of digital transformation in the music sector, focusing on the relationship between music streaming revenue growth and the economic maturity of EU member states. Using Statista data from 2015 to 2023, the study analyses streaming revenues in connection with real GDP growth and household final consumption expenditure. Correlation and regression analysis, together with non-parametric statistical tests, were used to evaluate the dataset. The findings confirm a statistically significant correlation between higher levels of economic development and increased streaming revenue, demonstrating a persistent digital divide between EU countries. In contrast, short-term economic indicators such as GDP growth showed no stable relationship with streaming performance. The study emphasizes the need for targeted support for less developed regions in digital infrastructure and inclusive digitalization policies. Digitalization is not only transforming business models in the music industry but also plays a key role in promoting sustainability and cultural innovation. The results are relevant for economists, digital policy experts, cultural researchers, and creative industry stakeholders.

Tato vědecká studie s názvem Digitalization as a Key Driver of Economic Development in the Music Industry in the European Union se zabývá významem digitalizace jako faktoru ekonomického rozvoje v hudebním průmyslu zemí Evropské unie. Použité metody zahrnují korelační a regresní analýzu i neparametrické statistické testy (Kruskal–Wallis, Dwass–Steel–Critchlow–Fligner). Studie odhaluje přetrvávající digitální propast mezi členskými státy EU a zdůrazňuje potřebu podpory méně rozvinutých ekonomik v oblastech digitální infrastruktury, gramotnosti a udržitelného rozvoje.
