Abstract

The pilot study analyses the results of a comprehensive survey on authorisation procedures for animal experiments in Germany. It provides detailed insights into the procedural workflow and provides a solid quantitative basis for analysing individual process steps. The pilot study identifies substantial problems that create delays, impose significant administrative burdens and undermine the reliability of procedures for researchers. Building on these findings, a simultaneously published statement by the Senate Commission sets out urgent recommendations for action.
