Influencia de la aculturación en el uso de la medicina indígena, en el pueblo kichwa de la costa

Abstract

Este estudio examina el impacto de la aculturación en el uso de la medicina indígena entre las personas kichwa de la costa de Ecuador. Se subraya la relevancia de hacer visible a esta población que, al ejercer derechos colectivos, ha desarrollado un proceso de autodefinición cultural importante. El problema radica en que la pérdida de la identidad cultural, provocada por la aculturación, disminuye la práctica de la medicina indígena. El objetivo principal fue examinar este problema desde la perspectiva teórica y contextual costeña, empleando metodologías bibliométricas, cualitativas, cuantitativas, etnográficas y análisis documental. Las conclusiones obtenidas nos permiten reflexionar sobre la importancia de fortalecer la transmisión intergeneracional de conocimiento tradicional, revitalizar e incluir en la forma de vida urbana y rural costeña, reducir la dependencia en la medicina occidental y neutralizar los impactos de la aculturación en su identidad y costumbres culturales.
