STUDI ANALISIS COMMUTER MARRIAGE FAMILY MENURUT ULAMA KONTEMPORER

Abstract

The phenomenon of commuter marriage, or long-distance marriage, is a form of adaptation by married couples to economic and career demands that require them to live apart. This trend has become increasingly common in the era of globalization but also presents challenges in fulfilling spousal rights and obligations, particularly concerning biological needs, emotional connection, and communication. This study aims to analyze commuter marriage from an Islamic perspective based on the views of contemporary scholars such as Yusuf al-Qaradawi, Wahbah al-Zuhaili, and Ahmad al-Raysuni. Using a qualitative and literature-based approach, the study finds that commuter marriage is not contrary to Islamic teachings as long as spousal rights and duties are maintained, and the couple preserves effective communication and commitment. However, this type of marital arrangement should be seen as a last-resort solution (dharura) rather than the ideal form of family life.
