EMBODIED DESIGN DALAM PEMBELAJARAN MATEMATIKA DI PENDIDIKAN DASAR

Abstract

Pembelajaran matematika di pendidikan dasar di Indonesia bersifat prosedural, berfokus pada penghafalan rumus, dan kurang memberikan pengalaman bermakna kepada siswa dibuktikan dengan hasil penelitian bahwa peserta didik kesulitan dalam memahami konsep karena materi disampaikan secara abstrak, tanpa melibatkan aktivitas fisik atau representasi visual yang mendukung pemahaman konseptual Idealnya, pembelajaran matematika di tingkat pendidikan dasar dirancang dengan mempertimbangkan cara berpikir anak yang melibatkan tubuh, gerak, dan persepsi sensorik, salah satunya adalah embodied design. Penelitian ini dilakukan karena belum ditemukan penelitian di Indonesia yang secara eksplisit mengembangkan atau mengimplementasikan pendekatan Embodied design dalam pembelajaran matematika di pendidikan dasar. Penelitian ini merupakan studi pustaka yang bersifat deskriptif kualitatif dengan mengidentifikasi sumber-sumber yang dikumpulkan melalui penelusuran literatur memalui database jurnal relevan, mengklasifikasikan berdasarkan tema (definisi, penerapan, kelebihan, tantangan), serta mensintesis hasil temuan menjadi kesimpulan yang sistematis. Embodied design merupakan sebuah paradigma pembelajaran yang menyentuh tubuh, pikiran, dan nilai. Embodied design dalam konteks pembelajaran matematika pendidikan dasar merupakan pendekatan yang multidimensi, yang menekankan bahwa berpikir adalah tindakan yang terjadi dalam, melalui, dan bersama tubuh dalam lingkungan social diintegrasikan dengan pengalaman sensorimotor, pemaknaan konseptual, dan keterlibatan reflektif siswa. Dengan mempertimbangkan konteks pendidikan dasar Indonesia, pendekatan ini dapat menjadi solusi atas tantangan pembelajaran matematika yang masih dominan berfokus pada prosedur simbolik. Penggunaan gesture, analogi tubuh, serta proyek kreatif yang bersifat reflektif dapat mendorong lahirnya pembelajaran yang lebih manusiawi dan bermakna.
