Clarivate has long supported open research as a founding ORCID sponsor, Impactstory funder, and through integrating open tools like Unpaywall, the Preprint Citation Index, and ROR identifiers into our platforms. We believe open science accelerates discovery, strengthens transparency, and builds trust in research. Yet as a commercial information provider, we recognize the inherent tensions in balancing sustainable business models with open principles. How can commercial services evolve to genuinely support—rather than compete with—open values? Where do infrastructure, curation, and analytical tools add value within an open ecosystem? This presentation explores these questions, sharing both progress and challenges. Through examples like our curated OA data, transparent journal selection via the Master Journal List, and OA analytics for libraries and publishers we'll demonstrate how we're working to find the right balance. Most importantly, we seek dialogue with the research community to identify sustainable pathways forward where commercial innovation and Open Science can thrive together.
