Abstract

Gomphus matijun J. W. Liu & F. Q. Yu, in Liu, Luangharn, Wan, Wang & Yu, Mycoscience 63 (6): 294 (2022) Fig. 3 a – c Notes. Gomphus matijun was recently described from Guizhou Province, southern PR of China (Liu et al. 2022). This species is characterized by unipileate fruiting bodies at maturity, ellipsoidal to elongate basidiospores measuring 9–11 × 6–7 μm, and predominantly 2 - spored basidia. In this study, we included G. matijun as a comparative taxon to evaluate the phylogenetic placement of Gomphus using mitochondrial genome data. We carefully examined both fresh and dried specimens, confirming their identity by comparison of ITS and LSU sequences with published data. A photo plate of fresh samples, SEM images of basidiospores showing warted ornamentation, and SEM images of the mycelial structure are given (Fig. 3). For the complete morphological description, readers are referred to the original publication (Liu et al. 2022).
