MPA Europe Deliverable 3.2 Publish maps and models of species environmental niches and geographic distributions in Europe on OBIS (Report + Appendix)

Abstract

This deliverable has been approved by the European Commission. This document serves as appendix to Deliverable 3.2. "Publish maps and models of species environmental niches and geographic distributions in Europe on OBIS". It includes maps of current period and future predictions of six hundred and six species chosen for testing the framework and modelled using the method of Least Absolute Shrinkage and Selection Operator (LASSO) and Random Forest (RF) involved in Deliverable 3.2 of MPA Europe. It is expected that at least 15,000 species will be modelled until the end of the project. The information provided is crucial for policy-relevant research focusing on MPA designation, in particular, mapping biodiversity patterns, and will feed the main subsequent task of Prioritisation (WP5) of systematic conservation planning to design (prioritise locations for an) MPA networks.
