Earthquake catalogs, referenced catalogs, velocity models, station list, and the SMART-2 network dataset for the 2024 Mw 7.4 Hualien earthquake sequence in Eastern Taiwan

Abstract

This repository contains the primary earthquake catalogs, referenced catalogs, velocity models, station list, and the SMART-2 network dataset used in the analysis of the 2024 Mw 7.4 Hualien earthquake sequence in Eastern Taiwan, as presented in Yang et al. (2025). The primary earthquake catalogs and its derived results are located in the "/Catalogs/AutoQuake" directory and cover the time from 1 April 2024 to 28 April 2024. This includes the relocated catalog ("relocated_catalog.csv"), polarity-based focal mechanism catalog ("gafocal_catalog.csv"), phase picks generated by PhaseNet ("phasenet_picks.csv"), associated phase picks generated by GaMMA, ("gamma_picks.csv"), phase picks with polarity ("polarity_picks.csv"), and the initial catalog generated by GaMMA ("gamma_events.csv"). Referenced catalogs are also included: the initial Central Weather Administration (CWA) catalog downloaded on 29 April 2024 ("/Catalogs/CWA/initial_cwa_catalog_0429.csv"), a refined CWA catalog covering the same study period ("/Catalogs/CWA/refined_cwa_catalog.csv"), relocated events around the Longitudinal Valley region from Huang and Wang (2022) ("/Catalogs/Huang_and_Wang_2022/relocated_LV_events.csv"), and the catalog used for focal mechanism comparison ("/Catalogs/Focal_comparison/focal_comparison"). The 1D and 3D velocity model (Huang et al., 2014) used in this study are provided in "Hualien_1D.vel" and "tomops_H14". The station list is provided in "stations.csv". Poles and Zeros files and Seismic waveform data from the SMART-2 network (Chiu et al., 1994) collected between 1 April 2024 and 28 April 2024 are included in the "/SM_data" directory.
