Space Inclusion: A Board Game for Intercultural Dialogue [Espaço Inclusão: Jogo de Tabuleiro para o Diálogo Intercultural] (ENG + PT)

Abstract

(English) The “Space Inclusion” board game was developed within the European KidLe Project, funded by the National Agency for the Management of the Erasmus+ Programme – Education and Training (Ref. 2023-1-PT01-KA220-SCH-000154686), which aims to promote the inclusion of migrant children in new learning environments. Its design is grounded in theoretical models of socio-emotional and intercultural competencies and in participatory methodologies, involving co-creation workshops with children, families, and teachers, as well as focus groups with teachers and migrant and native parents. The game narrative takes place in a space-themed environment and is structured around three thematic planets: Friendship, Communication, and Curiosity. Players progress as a team, under a facilitator's guidance, through collaborative tasks that require active participation, cooperation, and communication. The materials of the board game are available in this repository in Portuguese and English. Editable versions (.ppt and .doc) are also provided, allowing the text to be adapted to other languages according to local needs, while respecting the Copyright Licence agreement (Creative Commons Attribution–NonCommercial–NoDerivatives 4.0 International). If you wish to translate the materials and/or use them as teaching or research tools, the authors kindly request to be informed, so they can keep an updated record of existing versions and enable potential sharing. It is recommended that you read the document with printing instructions and guidelines, as well as the game manual, before downloading and printing all components.
