This qualitative research explores the lived experiences, challenges, and coping mechanisms of female job order janitors within the City Government of Panabo. Through purposive sampling and setting predefined criteria (criterion sampling) to conduct in-depth interviews with five (5) research participants and thematic analysis, the research revealed that most participants are dealing with multifaceted aspects like job insecurity, precarious employment, gendered stereotypes, role expectations, working conditions, and physical strains of their roles. Moreover, as participants desired more recognition and job satisfaction, they shared good experiences with support systems and team dynamics. Furthermore, the study explores female job order janitors' coping mechanisms to navigate these challenges. The analysis encompasses various coping strategies such as remarkable resilience, positive role modeling, resourcefulness, thriftiness, focused mindset, and pride in work. The study also found that the research participants combat challenges with the help of emotional support from community and peer networks, humor as their coping strategy, and economic coping measures, such as engagement in side hustles and loan dependence. Additionally, their rituals and self-care played a pivotal role in their daily quest for life. The findings of this research contribute to the broader discourse by amplifying the voices of these women to empower them and advocate for improvements and endeavors to foster a more equitable and supportive environment within the local government context.
